It was Marijke’s birthday. A great Barossa Valley tour was on the menu, with Be consumed tours. A local produce platter en route along with a tasting of Wayne’s Alinta rose. Then visits to … the Whispering Wall, the delightful Moorooroo Park vineyard cellar door (Jacob’s Creek Resort), a private tasting at Rockford Wines (thanks Joe), Jacob’s Creek Visitors centre, a visit to Maggie Beer’s farm, Roenfeldt Hill vineyard and a private tasting in the glorious Murray Street vineyards function hall at Greenock, with a long table gourmet lunch at the Roenfeldt Hill barrel shed. Drum fire roaring as the afternoon became misty. Group enjoyed the unique corkscrew vine presentation and vine to wine insights. This has to be the best wine region experience in Australia, truly delivering on the Be consumed promise of the Barossa. How good was that!
Russell Jeavon’s pizza haunt at Willunga has, for some years, been a favourite short trip night out for groups of friends, and family celebrations. Rustic atmosphere, warm and inviting even on the coldest nights; standing around open fires in winter. Of course, wood fired ovens. Surprise functions catered for. Food is sensational, as you would expect…it just keeps on coming until you are full to the brim. Not only pizzas, great deserts too.

You have always wanted to do the wonderful Clare Valley wine region of our state, but somehow there has always been other priorities, or it was just a bit far, being an hour and a half from Adelaide. You have no idea what you have been missing! So get a group of your friends together and just do it!
Best known for its delightful Rieslings, its cool climate and limestone soils lending themselves to fragrant white wines, yet the region’s delicate, sophisticated reds are winning awards around the world.
Check out this Be consumed. tours silver tour itinerary. ABRM 3 Clare Template This one is based on a Clare region accommodation pickup point, but if leaving from Adelaide, we can easily modify it… might just mean making it an 8am start and planning to get home by around 6.30pm.
The beautiful town of Hahndorf is just 30 minutes from the city of Adelaide. It was first settled by Lutheran/Prussian immigrants in 1839, and is Australia’s oldest German settlement, the surviving buildings and character replicating the fachwerk architecture of the homeland.
George Fyfe Angas, a pillar of our state’s heritage, was a Newcastle (UK) businessman. He saw the potential of the region and Barossa Valley, working with Hamburg pastor August Kavel to bring several hundred oppressed Lutheran families to settle here, and was the founder of The South Australian Company, risking his entire family fortunes in loan guarantees to see it established.
Today, Hahndorf sees thousands of tourists every week, the quaint Main St being a half km walk of attractions from home made ice creameries, arts, crafts, and boutique winery cellar doors to hotel restaurants serving traditional German dishes.
Nearby is the iconicBeerenberg strawberry farm and jam/condiments factory, and Grumpy’s, a micro brewhaus. And within a few minutes are several boutique wineries including Hahndorf Hill, The Lane, Johnstons, Bird in Hand, Napenthe, Shaw & Smith and Howards vineyard.

For up to 12 guests in our luxuriously appointed minibus, your driver is likely to be the owner of Adelaide Barossa Regional Minibus, who is also a vigneron and boutique winemaker. You can also to choose to ‘party away in private’ the afternoon in his Roenfeldt Hill vineyard and wines barrel shed, recently fitted out with air conditioning and kitchen. The affable Wayne then becomes your chef!
Wayne’s week is always a busy one. He runs the family vineyard, markets his wines, does the rep work in the Adelaide restaurant scene, and does some consulting work too, as well as being involved in tourism. He has now created ABRM – short for Adelaide Barossa Regional Minibus, along with sub- brands, Be consumed.tours, and Winemaker Tours. Whilst the key target markets are in middle to high end wine tourism, he will be providing a full range of minibus services for groups.
The Be consumed. tours range provides clients with a wonderful tourism experience, delivering on the magnificent food and wine character/culture of our state, as depicted in the award winning Tourism SA advert – click here to see.. Barossa be consumed. Whilst the ad is focussed on the Barossa Valley, it really is an expose of the character of all wine regions of our state. South Australian wine tours are simply exhilarating!
The wine region tours on offer are like no other, in that they are led by a vigneron and small winemaker, with guests able to choose from a range of itineraries, which can include a visit and lunch in the newly fitted barrel shed or in the natural bush of Roenfeldt Hill vineyard overlooking the Barossa.
Tours of the McLaren Vale, Hills and Clare Valley regions are also part of the business. Charters are welcomed too, whereby clients can run the day, using their own itinerary.
